6 Simple Ways to Improve Your Wash Day Routine

"Sorry I can't make it, I'm washing my hair"... Yeah sometimes that's actually a real excuse! I'm sure every girl with kinky/curly hair can relate to the fact that hair washing can be a long process, so there's usually a whole day or at least a big part of a day dedicated to the cause - Wash day.

Well, here's 6 simple ways for you to improve your wash day by making the process slightly easier and hopefully a little bit quicker too so that the struggle isn't quite so real anymore!

1. Detangle your hair first

Before you jump in the shower to start shampooing your hair, put a little bit of time aside to detangle your hair. I prefer to finger detangle because its more gentle on the hair and is less likely to cause damage, but if you're short of time then use a wide tooth comb. Detangling first will reduce the risk of knots once your hair gets wet and starts to shrink.

Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Range Review

A while ago I was gifted with 3 products from the Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter range by a lovely family member visiting from the US:

Moisture Retention Shampoo - £10.99
Restorative Conditioner - £10.99
Deep Treatment Masque - £12.99

We all know that Shea Moisture tends to be cheaper to buy in the States than over in the UK so this was a fab treat, as I don't know if I would have wanted to risk spending the money buying all 3 products to try together just in case my hair hated them!

Now I've spent months consistently using the products I can finally review them properly and answer the question that everyone asks when they see them on the shelf in the hair shop and tries to decide whether they can bare to part with their money or not - Are they really worth the money? Because lets face it, they're pretty pricey...

SHORT ANSWER - YES...Hell Yes! These products will give your hair life!

Now for a few more details...

I spotted the ultimate natural hair inspiration this week from Thandie Newton in her New African Woman magazine shoot.

Thandie transitioned to natural a few years ago and has spoken openly a few times about her decision to do this, as well as how she deals with her daughter's hair. You can read one of her fab interviews on here. For this shoot she was given a range of different natural hairstyles and there's no denying that she looks stunning - Yaasasss girl!

Graduation and Jamaica!

So I realise that I haven't blogged in a while, but last month I got pretty caught up completing an internship, celebrating my graduation and exploring Jamaica. Yes, July was a pretty good month for me! (I have no excuse for August).

Anyway, seeing as I've abandoned my blog for a while, I thought the least that I could do is share a bit about what I got up to.

Four years hard work all paid off and I finally graduation from DMU with a first class degree! Final year really was a struggle but once I set my mind to something, there's no other option but to do it; so I pulled it together and got on with it.

Graduation was a great way to finish off university, but I have to admit I think I was expecting something a bit more spectacular since I did work my ass off to get there! Anyway, I made it across the stage without falling on my face and I got to take my mandatory graduation photo - what more could I want?

The biggest thing I learned throughout university? Stop worrying so much and just trust in God.

Philippians 4:6 (NKJV): "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus"
